Diana Moschitz

British Photographer, Diana is the founder of Family As Art. With four small children herself she has extensive experience with children and babies and it was through watching her own children and capturing them on camera that her love of photography began. 

Diana's philosophy towards photographing children is what brings magic to her portraits:  "I don't want to make children smile, I want to give them a reason to". 

Her natural, maternal approach to newborn sessions and her readiness to engage with the big kids ("often it's just a good fart noise that's needed to build the rapport") quickly builds the trust of parents and children alike. Ensuring that a good time is had by all.

My Inspiration

I have been indescribably blessed with my family and yet I let moments pass. I have forgotten details that I thought I would know forever. I have days where I am too tired for one more hug, one more story.  I have scalded when I should have comforted and have ignored when I should have been attentive. 

It’s not possible to be counting your blessings every minute of every day. We’re only human! And so, when my heart is full and even when it’s not I capture these moments of our lives together so that when they are grown and have left the nest, when no-one is interrupting me as I read, when I can drink my coffee undisturbed, when I raise my head although no-one is calling for mama, I will see their shiny faces looking back at me from the canvases on the wall. I will remember their dimples and their curls. And through tears of joy I will know that as hard as those years were they were the best of all time!

For me, photography is a way of preserving the many precious moments that pass by so quickly. I know that through my work my clients will have a window to this time in their lives where their hearts were brimming over with joy and fear and love. I create timeless, authentic newborn portraits and produce work that evokes true emotion for generations, capturing the unique power, joy and honesty in the bonds between families.

my studio

I created my studio as much for me as for my clients. I knew that I wanted a cosy haven where I could relax and feel inspired and where families (my own included) could feel safe. I adore living in a light and bright environment and wanted the same for my place of work. I love the feeling I get when I walk in in the morning and the sun streams in through the windows, touching on all the little details that have been prepared for the day's shoot.
