Newborn and Maternity Workshops and Mentoring Programmes at Family As Art are intimate experiences aimed at already experienced photographers who wish to explore and advance their skills in newborn photography. The focus of the training will be on creating authentic, organic and heart-warming images of newborns and new mums. Natural lighting will be used to capture the softness and delicateness of the babies in their first days of life. My style is one of simple elegance and my goal is always to capture the true tenderness and emotional connections with the families that I photograph. 

One day group workshops allow you the opportunity to watch me work with newborn clients in my Fine Art Studio. My workshops are designed to teach you the art of photographing babies as they really are. This is not an "extreme posing" course. It’s about documenting the uniqueness and realness of your client’s baby. It’s about watching the (natural) light and learning how to control it to create timeless images which are full of beauty and emotion. We’ll look at relationship posing and how to nurture your clients, prompting them to show their feelings on camera. You’ll learn how I set up for my sessions and how I calm babies, my organic wrapping style, and my workflow.

From July 2016 all workshops will include use of a "Stand in Baby"  so that you will also have the opportunity to practise posing in relation to light, wrapping and angles. Participants will be eligible to rent these for a reduced rate after the course has finished.

You’ll receive my handbook (available from September 2016) and my lightroom presets and photoshop actions.

You’ll also get a goodie bag with a few select items from some of my favourite suppliers, and my preferred shopping list. 

You will have the chance to ask questions throughout the day and will be given ample opportunity to take beautiful photos yourself.

Investment: The investment for the 1 day group workshop is €850 payment in full or a deposit of €300 upon registration and 550€ payable 2 weeks before the Workshop is held. 

Participants: Maximum 5 participants (plus the host). Participation will be allotted on a first come first served basis once the deposit has been made. Participants must be comfortable using their camera in manual mode, have at least a 50mm 1.8 lens and have experience using Lightroom and/or Photoshop.

1:1 and 1:2 workshops are a great way to fully immerse yourself in the newborn photography world. These workshops grant you personal access to my knowledge as an acclaimed fine art newborn photographer. You will have the chance to pose and photograph newborns yourself ensuring that you fully understand the techniques required.

Date: Subject to mutual availability. Full day; 9.00 - 15.00.

Investment: The investment for 1:1 workshops is €1500 (€1800 for Vienna)  or €1000 (€1150 for Vienna) each for 1:2 workshop, of which a non refundable deposit of €600 must be paid upon registration.

The Newborn & Maternity Mentoring Programme is the ultimate opportunity to learn what it takes to start and run a successful career as a newborn photographer. This intensive programme will grant you access to every element of the Family As Art business and ultimately launch you as a Premium Level Fine Art Photographer.

Over the course the week you will participate in 2 1:1 days with me, ranging from hands on shooting to marketing, editing, motivation and much more.

The sessions will consist of:

• Day 1: You will have access to the behind the scenes experience at Family As Art. Take pull back photos of the set ups and videos of me working (not for online publishing please). Pose baby (model client) yourself with my guidance and instructions. At the end of the day you will watch me cull and edit a handful of images whilst I talk through my workflow.
• Day 2: Maternity Shoot and Baby Shoot (aged 6 months to 1 year). During this day we will work on the business and branding side of your studio. Please come prepared to take action. By the end of the day we will have created a pricing guide for you to follow. Any business or marketing questions will be answered on this day

This really is the ultimate learning experience. It will be a very intense course and you will learn a whole world of skills and knowledge and at the end of the programme you will be more than ready to stand out in the crowd and make an impact as a newborn photographer.

Please note that the order of your sessions may differ from above and as is the nature of newborn photography there may be schedule alterations based on the availability of babies.

Investment: The investment for the mentor programme is €2400 of which a non-refundable deposit of €700 must be paid upon registration. 3 weeks before the Workshop is help the remaining tuition fee must be paid or the seat will be offered to the next person on the waiting list. 

Participants: Participants must be comfortable using their camera in manual mode and have at least a 50mm 1.8 lens and ideally have a studio or shooting space within which to receive their own clients. The mentor programme is designed as a springboard to launch or further your career as a specialised newborn photographer. 

Mentees will receive goodie bag including list of links from all the vendors I use for props and products, my special aromatherapy mix, a usb stick with my favourite custom actions and presets for Lightroom and Photoshop and a small prop gift from a couple of my favourite vendors. You will be able to contact me at anytime throughout and after the programme with questions or for critique (or just a chat!).

I want my mentees to feel really confident in what they've learnt throughout the program, so from December 2016 all mentees will be loaned a Stand in Baby to practise what they've learnt in their own studio for 1 week following the program. This is a unique opportunity to use your notes and workbook and make real changes to your technique and style that will last. 

This is a brand new addition to the Family As Art Workshops for 2016. As an alumni of the newborn workshops you will have the chance to work with Diana in your own space. Diana will come to your studio and work as your assistant on one of your sessions. Together you will discover the best use of light in your space and how to aesthetically use your range of props, wraps and studio clothing. The session can be used for Newborn, Maternity or Baby Sessions (up to one year). 

At this session Diana will be there to consult and assistant and will not be shooting. That's up to you. She will be looking over your shoulder though, checking your settings and the back of your camera, giving you feedback and tips and will, when necessary calm and care for the baby (and you if needed ;-) ).

This opportunity is only available to photographers who have completed one of Diana's pro-workshops and is only available once in 6 months per person.    

Date:. Please arrange a date with Diana before booking this add-on. You will be responsible for finding a model/client and all model releases required.  

Investment: The non-refundable investment for the Work Together Add-on is €500 to be paid at the time of booking. Re-scheduling is not possible so please have a back-up model/client in case of last minute cancellations. 

Participants: Participants must be comfortable using their camera in manual mode and have at least a 50mm 1.8 lens and ideally have a studio or shooting space within which to receive their own clients. They must have successfully completed one of the pro-level workshops and be ready to implement what they have learnt.
